Perran sands

This week I’m out of the office on my long awaited break to the Cornish coast. Thankfully had some nice weather so far and touch wood the forecast looks ok. 3G signal is good so managed to tether iPhone to ipad for Internet access, which is considerably better than when in Wales.

Spent some time walking amongst the sand dunes, which Elliot loves.
Got very covered in sand yesterday when we visited a beach near Newquay and we managed a very British paddle in the sea. Loads of surfers showing us what we should be doing as apposed to just getting our ankles damp.

Geocaching in the last few months

Here’s a small selection of recent geocache successes, from Birmingham, Warwick, London and Daventry so far. If you’re unfamilar with Geocaching, but like geeky techy related treasure hunting then check out http://www.geocaching.com/

It’s basically a high tech treasure hunt with over a million varying sized ‘caches’ hidden worldwide.

Each cache is placed on the map using GPS coordinates and you are able to then search for them via a smart phone or GPS device. We’ve become quite addicted. In fact I almost found one in Brighton this weekend, but it’s location was hidden in some bushes in front of where a keep fit class had just started, by the beach. I thought better of crawling into some bushes directly behind a group of people jumping, bending and generally being active, I thought it might look rather suspicious.

The Media Circus is the final event that will reveal the winners in each category, launch the book that has been put together from all of the nominations, to celebrate and promote the creative industries in Birmingham in 2010.

There will be the awards themselves, entertainment, music, drinks, performances and digital displays all within the realms of the ‘Media Circus’ overseen by our central ringmaster and performers.

Event Details
Date: Friday 29th October, 7.30pm onwards

Location: Fazeley Studios, Digbeth
It’s not black tie, in fact it’s fancy dress if you so wish. It’s not compulsary but actively encouraged. Anyone who came to last year’s Halloween party at Fazeley studios will get the idea. The theme is Victorian Circus.
